"Deep Work" by Cal Newport

Deep WorkI have been a fan of Cal Newport for a long time. The author/mathematician/professor behind the brilliant Study Hacks blog wrote one of the best books I read in 2015, "So Good They Can't Ignore You". So when I heard he was releasing a new book titled "Deep Work", I pre-ordered a copy without hesitation. In "Deep Work", Cal makes the case that only by eliminating distractions and engaging in meaningful, dedicated, and sometimes difficult work will you be able to survive and thrive in today's world. The insights mirror many things I admire from Stephen King's brilliant work "On Writing", as well as Steven Pressfield's "The War of Art".Anyone in a creative field deserves to pick up a copy of "Deep Work" and make sure they are making the most of their time and talents. I manage to write a lot of music every year, but I know I have plenty of room for improvement and this big is an instrumental guide in helping me get there.Read Cal's post "The Book Facebook Doesn't Want You to Read" for his own explanation of the book and what it can do for you.
